Women’s Head Coach, Mike Grady is excited for the season’s kick-off tomorrow – and backs his side to compete amongst the best.
2024 was a season of progression for our girls after a restructure of the women’s game, finishing inside the Championship play-off positions.
The team went on to lose a tough battle against Sheffield Eagles in the semi-finals, who, ironically, are the girls’ first opponents tomorrow afternoon.
It’s a league stacked with quality, especially with the additions of London Broncos Ladies and Cardiff Demons, so Grady’s side will know they’ll have to performance even better on a consistent basis to stay amongst the leading back.
And that’s the ultimate goal – promotion to the Betfred Women’s Super League.
It’s a view our Head Coach nailed down since the first day he took over and it’s a point he’s reiterated in his season preview, on the eve of our first game,
“That is ultimately the goal, that’s not changed. We’ve just got to work harder, work smarter and just keep doing what we’ve been doing,” he began.
“As I touched on last year, it was a little bit disjointed at time and we were just finding our feet as staff, as a squad, but this year, we’ve added some real quality.
“I’m happy with everything that’s been happening on the training pitch; the coaches have added a lot, the staff have added a lot and the players themselves have added a lot, so we just have to be as good as we can, week-in, week-out – that includes on the training field, and on the pitch.
“I’m happy, I’m excited and the proof will be in the pudding this weekend against Sheffield.”
