Salford Red Devils Women have learnt their Betfred Challenge Cup group stage opponent’s for 2024.
With the new season ticking ever closer, anticipation is growing and our new-look women’s side will be hoping to earn promotion back to the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Alongside their league campaign, they will take part in rugby league’s most prestigious cup competition. Placed in pot three of today’s draw, live on BBC Radio Merseyside, our girls know what stands in their way of progression to the knockout stages.
From Pot 1, consisting of reigning champions, St Helens and the ever-impressive Leeds Rhinos, York Valkyrie and Wigan Warriors, Salford were pitted against Wigan Warriors, in Group 2.
Two familiar faces were in Pot 2, with the Red Devils drawing Barrow Raiders from a group which also contained Warrington Wolves, Featherstone Rovers and Huddersfield Giants.
The group was completed by Cardiff Demons from Pot 4.
This year’s competition will kick-off on the weekend of March 16/17 – the start of the road to Wembley Stadium, where the final will be staged for only the second time on Saturday June 8.
The group stage concludes on the weekend of April 6/7, with the four group winners earning a home tie quarter final against one of the runners-up.
Should the Red Devils progress past the group stage as winners, they will face the runner-up in the same group, and vice versa.
