Eric Prescott makes up the starting 13 in the ‘Willows Wall’ Heritage Team after winning the voting for the loose-forward position.
The Red Devils paid big money for Prescott in 1972 signing the loose-forward for a fee of £13,500 and he would go on to make 291 appearances for Salford scoring 51 tries, 7 goals and one drop-goal totalling an impressive 171 points.
Prescott was another key component in Salford’s success in the 1970’s helping the Club win Championship titles in both the 1973-74 and 1975-76 seasons. He played in each of Salford’s four consecutive Lancashire Cup final appearances on both of their BBC 2 Television Trophy finals.
He would join Widnes for £20,000 and would go on to win the Challenge Cup at Wembley with the Chemics. However, Prescott would re-join Salford in 1984 making 18 appearances before joining Runcorn Highfield where he would finish his player career.
He is widely considered to be one of the best uncapped players to have featured for Salford.
We will be releasing the substitutions for the ‘Willows Wall’ Heritage Team in the coming days in association with Capricorn Security and the Salford Red Devils Foundation.
