Squad | Devils Tie Up Deal For Murray

Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce that highly-rated forward Daniel Murray has agreed a new two-year contract to stay at the The Salford Stadium.
Red Devils Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said: “Several clubs had shown keen interest in Daniel and I think a couple of them thought they had a got a deal over the line, but we are delighted he has chosen to continue to develop his Super League career at Salford.
“Daniel’s is a player that is very highly-rated by myself and our coaching staff and undoubtedly one of the most promising young forward talents in the English game. He has shown a great deal of patience and willingness to and has handled these negotiations in a professional manner and we thank him for that.”
Murray was equally delighted to continue his career at the Red Devils and said: “I wanted to stay because I see my career progressing the way I want it to progress. Salford have been a credit to that. The way I have developed over two years has been perfect.
“Going forward I want to achieve a regular starting position and establish myself as a forward here.  Over last two weeks this has been the Salford we want Salford. It is about kicking on now and getting what we want to achieve in 2018.
“Thanks to the fans who come week in week out supporting the team, win, draw or lose. They are a credit to themselves and they are the reason I have decided to stay and develop here.”
Head Coach Ian Watson said: “We are really happy we have got Daniel Murray over the line. He was becoming a hot property within the game, where clubs were showing a lot of interest in acquiring his services.
“He’s a great lad and with how he’s developed over the last couple of years I think it shows the progress of Daniel and Salford.
“We picked him up two years ago having been released from Warrington and his work ethic and attitude have been first class. He is willing to listen and learn and his performances over the last couple of seasons have shown everybody the potential he has, and I’m sure he will be a Super League player for a long, long time and this new contract is a reward for his work ethic.”
