The Reds, looking to get their first points on the board, went toe-to-toe with a Tigers side who lost to Huddersfield Giants on their last outing.
In a back and forth contest, a late try from the visitors broke Salford hearts, who did lead the game via Bobby Barton’s effort with just minutes to go.
The other Salford try-scorers included: Michael Aimudo, Conor O’Reilly, Conrad Dockwray, Ryan Taylor and Owen Schuster, with Barton adding three goals on top of his points tally.
