Salford Red Devils are set for a box office start to the 2025 Betfred Super League campaign.
With the players due back for pre-season training fairly imminently, preparations are well underway for another ten months of intense rugby league action.
After confirmation of our clash with Hull KR at Magic Weekend, we now know who we’ll be facing in the opening two Super League rounds.
First up for Paul Rowley’s side is a trip to the Totally Wicked Stadium, where the BBC cameras will showcase a meeting with ten-time Super League champions, St Helens.
Scheduled for a 5:30pm kick-off on Saturday, February 15th, it’s set to be a fierce occasion with both teams looking for a positive start.
It now means our pre-season friendly with the Saints – in Morgan Knowles’ testimonial – may take on extra significance for both sides, acting as a prelude to our Round 1 meeting.
Last time out at the TWS, Moses Mbye’s drop-goal in golden point edged a thrilling contest, but our game earlier in the season was much more memorable for the Salford faithful.
Five minutes from time, via a sensational Tim Lafai assist, Deon Cross scored a winner which confirmed our first away win at Saints for over 44 years.
Returning home in Round 2, Leeds Rhinos will be our first visitors to the Salford Community Stadium.
It was a place that became a fortress in 2024, with eleven memorable home victories a Club record and a major driving force behind our fourth-place finish.
Back in early August, a fantastic Salford display – inspired by captain, Kallum Watkins – secured a crucial victory over the Rhinos in the playoff run-in.
The players will want to re-find that level of performance when Brad Arthur’s team comes to town on Saturday, February 22nd, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
With the first two fixtures, Rivals Round and Magic Weekend now confirmed, it means fans can start marking their calendars.
Fixture release day is always a highly anticipated part of any supporters’ rugby year and we’ll learn the rest of our 2025 schedule on Thursday at 8am.
