We’re delighted to announce that Salford Red Devils Women will compete in the Women’s Championship and League Cup this year.
Newly formed in the latter stages of 2021, our Women’s side have been working tirelessly, week in week out, to build a strong and close-knit group of talented individuals, and all that hard work has paid off.
Following this positive news, Salford Red Devils Foundation head of equality and diversity, Craig Fisher, commented:
“The announcement of the Ladies Team making it into the Championship has been the culmination of months of hard work and endeavour from myself, Sam Bardsley and Marcelle Lock, not to mention the support from Paul King and Neil Blackburn.
“To get the email to say that we’ve got into the league we felt best suited the team was a great relief, as this programme has been a real labour of love since its inception in September.
“I’m extremely confident the team will represent the Club with pride, passion and honour, the very traits that make Salford Red Devils the club it is.
“The added bonus of the Challenge Cup will provide much needed game time and the potential for more silverware. The coaches are working hard to ensure the team are ready hit the ground running for when the league starts and the players are determined to build on the success of our debut game against Swinton.
“I’m confident in speaking for all involved that we cannot wait to get started, and even more excited to see where we finish come the end of the season.”
Our ladies have played one pre-season fixture so far – a 30-4 victory over Swinton Lionesses in January.
Next up for our Women’s team is a pre-season away clash with Leigh Miners Rangers on Sunday 20th February, kick-off 2pm.
