SALFORD RED DEVILS LEND A HELPING HAND TO HOME-START THIS CHRISTMAS

Members of the Salford Red Devils men’s and women’s team have been lending a hand at local charity, Home-Start Trafford, Salford & Wigan.

They are a locally run, voluntary organisation operating as an independent Charitable Company, strategically managed by a Board of Trustees, made up of local professional volunteers.

As the festive season gets into full swing, Home-Start have received some brilliant toy donations from local organisations and corporate partners.

They then had less than 24 hours to make up 200 sacks of toys to the children who they are currently supporting, before delivering to families in the hope of making Christmas less stressful for parents.

Adam Sidlow, Ollie Partington, Matty Foster, Summer Harris, Abi Collins and Laura Bent went down to their centre earlier last week to help organise and fill the sacks of presents.

Kathryn Eckersley, Managing Director of Home-Start has said: “Thank you on behalf of all the families for this year’s wonderful donations.

“We are very grateful too for the extra help we have received from the Salford Red Devils rugby players and their team, to get them all organised and ready to be delivered to the hundreds of children we are currently supporting.

“We are overwhelmed by people’s kindness and generosity, as one mum said: ‘The kids wont think I’ve been naughty this year because thanks to you there is now a little present under the tree for me too!”

Managing Director of Salford Red Devils, Paul King has added: “As a community club, we know how vital it is to help out local charities and organisations.

“Home-Start do some incredible things for families, especially at Christmas time, so it was a pleasure to get involved with their initiative, and great to see the players attend their centre earlier last week to help out.

“I urge anyone to check-out their services and find out how you can get involved.”
