Salford City Roosters have received £377,863 from the CreatedBy RLWC2021 Capital Grants Legacy Programme.
The grant, which has been awarded to help more people play rugby league at grassroots level in the North West, will fund the club’s new community clubhouse.
Salford City Roosters Rugby League Club, in partnership with Salford City Council, is set to receive £377,863 from the CreatedBy RLWC2021 Capital Grants Programme. Delivered in partnership between RLWC2021, the sport’s national governing body, the Rugby Football League, Sport England and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, the CreatedBy programme is a funding pot of up to £10million made available by the government to support the legacy of the Rugby League World Cup by growing participation in the sport.
Salford City Roosters are one of Salford Red Devils Foundation’s community clubs and have a proud forty year plus history. While firmly rooted in its community, the club has achieved successes developing players who have attained county and international status. With a clubhouse well past its best, the club’s survival would have been in doubt. But with plans to create modern changing rooms and a clubroom space which will have the flexibility to be used for many different activities, the Roosters have a sustainable future ahead of them, nurturing grassroots rugby league in an area of high social need.
This grant award has been matched pound for pound by joint funding from the club itself, Salford City Council, Booths Charities, Salford Community Leisure and For Housing to help make the Roosters’ plans a reality.

The Rugby League World Cup 2021 will kick off on 23 October 2021, with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions taking place simultaneously, under one tournament banner for the first time.
