Head Coach, Paul Rowley says the players showed ‘loads of character’ despite suffering heavy defeat against Wigan Warriors.
The Reds are going through a turbulent time off-the-field and uncertainty around the Club’s takeover has certainly had an impact on the playing group.
Despite a raft of enforced changes, including the selection of three Reserve grade players, the team performed valiantly against the current World Champions.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Rowley was keen to point that out, saying: “Absolutely. There was loads of character and there were some young lads there who had come in at a level that not only what they’re not used to, but they were not ready to be in that position – U21 as well – so they were fantastic
“But the best bit about it for me is when you get to sit down next to an experienced player who’s going to turn your nerves into excitement and I think we had plenty of that in our dressing room today that went above and beyond and showed tremendous character.
“We don’t like losing and we don’t accept mediocracy, we’ll judge the efforts on its merit and the standards we want to uphold and set. But, I can’t have any complaints on effort.”
