Head Coach, Paul Rowley paid a special, touching tribute to our travelling supporters, who backed the team for the full 80 minutes in our Round 8 defeat on Saturday evening.
A second trip to Perpignan in the space of a fortnight presented another tough task for the Red Devils, who are still hampered by a sustainability cap.
Tries from loanees, Jonny Vaughan and Tiaki Chan gave the vocal Salford faithful, who always travel in numbers to the South of France, something to cheer about, but it was the hosts who secured the two competition points.
With the visit of Leigh Leopards next up on Saturday afternoon, the tasks don’t get any easier and the squad will have to dust themselves down for another battle.
When asked about the fans’ support, our Head Coach said: “They’re always great when they come to Catalans, they enjoy the holiday.
“But in a time when we’ve needed our fans, they’re unquestionable, they’re fantastic and I keep saying this that the Club is connected from top to bottom, and that starts from the players, coaches, fans, the administrators – so we’re definitely in it together.
“And in anything, in sport and in life, the journey is really important, so I think it’s important for everybody to be present in the moment.
“We spoke about that as a group and the fans enjoyed themselves. It was a tough day for us, but we’ll be present, enjoy the journey and when we come through it, we’ll be better for it.
“We’ll find out about each other, learn about individuals – who’s tough and who’s not, who can stand the pressure and who can’t. They’re good lessons in the end, and like I said before, we’ll enjoy the journey.”
