ROWLEY PAYS TRIBUTE TO SALFORD SUPPORTERS AFTER WIGAN LOSS

Head Coach, Paul Rowley has paid a special tribute to the Salford supporters’ backing after a real battle with reigning champions, Wigan Warriors.

The Reds, who once again battled hard throughout, were made to pay from a few transition tries early on that put the visitors in a commanding position.

Nathan Connell, a standout performer in recent weeks, got the try he deserved in front of the South Stand when he raced onto a Joe Shorrocks break up the middle.

Speaking to the press post-match, our Head Coach was quick to praise the Salford faithful, who continued to back the team throughout the 80 minutes.

“I said it before the game watching the boys warm-up, there’s a small bunch of loud and loyal Salford fans at that end there that were really encouraging our boys,” he began.

“To me, that’s the motivation. If I’ve got that Salford shirt on and I’m playing, I’m doing everything for them fans, that’s motivating me.

“The effect they have, no matter how many there are in numbers is unbelievable because obviously the players felt the same way I did.

“They performed valiantly, but obviously there’s a gulf in class out there on the pitch. Again, I’m not too proud to recognise that, it hurts to lose, but I’ve got to take my hat off to the lads, who continue to put a shift in.”
