ROWLEY BOOSTED BY RETURN OF MACDONALD

Head Coach, Paul Rowley says having Nene Macdonald back in the squad is a huge boost for the Club and the player himself, ahead of this weekend’s clash with Castleford Tigers.

The PNG international has only made three appearances the Reds so far this season due to strict sustainability cap regulations imposed on the team.

His subsequent loan move to Oldham RLFC and a trip home to Australia for the birth of his child means Macdonald hasn’t been around the team for the last month or so, but this week saw him return to the fold.

A 2024 Dream Team inductee, Macdonald made a devastating impact during his first season in red & white and will want to re-find them levels to help the team push up the Betfred Super League table.

Speaking about the return of his star centre, Macdonald said: “Yeah, it’s great. Obviously he’s had a very unsettled year. Even looking all the way back to playing in the Pacific Cup and therefore having no pre-season with us, then coming into the turmoil we all know there has been – and so he’s not played.

“It’s a great boost for him as well as us, but I’m pleased he gets to pull on the Salford jersey again, and obviously for us as well. But without adding pressure to him, he’ll take a few weeks no doubt to get back into the swing of things.”
