We’re delighted to announce that Salford Red Devils Head Coach, Paul Rowley has been nominated for Betfred Super League Coach of the Year.
In a stellar debut campaign, Rowley has guided his side to a top six finish. The Red Devils have played an exciting, attacking brand of rugby, but mixed with a grit and determination that’s seen us grind out important victories along the road.
Every win has been crucial, but a record-breaking 74-10 victory over Wakefield Trinity in late June – our greatest ever points margin and total – showcased the hard-work and dedication the players and staff have put into the process behind the scenes.
Other standout results have been the 44-12 home win over St.Helens and two excellent performances against Catalans Dragons – one home and one away.
Upon receiving his nomination, Paul Rowley said: “I’m really humbled to be nominated and it means the absolute world to me. I am grateful and honoured for all the support that the team and I have received throughout the season and am proud to represent our team effort.
“Kurt Haggerty and Danny Orr are my friends and colleagues and this nomination is equally about them as it is myself. The coaches, all the off field team and our fantastic players are just a bunch of mates working hard and having fun in equal measures.
“On behalf of everybody at Salford we sincerely thank all of our respected opponents for their sportsmanship throughout the season.”
Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease added: “I am extremely pleased for Paul to be nominated for Super League Coach of the Year.
“A real rugby aficionado, Paul has been well supported by his assistants Kurt Haggerty and Danny Orr, and our wonderful boot room team.
“He is in esteemed company with the other nominations and we are all very proud of the way he has coached our team this year, and the exciting brand of rugby he and his staff have developed throughout the club. I wish him all the best on the awards night.”
Alongside our Head Coach in the running for such a prestigious award is the departing St Helens boss, Kristian Woolf and Wigan Warriors’ Matt Peet.
The winner will be announced on the 19th September at the annual Betfred Super League awards ceremony.
