Salford full-back Niall Evalds accepts it’s been a difficult few weeks for the Red Devils but feels some time off could benefit the side.
Evalds, sponsored by Dog and Partridge & Sounds of Salford, said: “It’s been a tough few weeks for us we’ve been patchy with our form and we’re struggling to put some performances together.
“We’re trying to concentrate on our own performances and not look at the sides around us but things haven’t gone to plan lately.
“We’ve played every week since the start of the season we’ve not had any east games in the Challenge Cup either meaning no chance to rest anyone.
“It’s been virtually whoever is fit has played every week so there’s a few tired boys out there and that can be seen in our performances.
“But, we’ve got a bit of time off now to train and recover and hopefully we’ll come back ready for the next game against Wakefield.
“We can spend some time with family and friends, relax, and gear up for a big backend to the season and try and get it back on track.”
Evalds has been a regular starter at full-back over the past few months however did spend the second half in the centres following the introduction of Gareth O’Brien.
Evalds said: “I’ve always thought I was a full-back but I’ll play wherever Ian Watson and the boys need me.
“I played a bit of centre in the second half and went okay but I feel full-back is my main position and there’s a bit of competition with Gareth O’Brien which keeps us both on our toes.
“I’m really happy to be playing regularly and hopefully the results will come back soon.”
