THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

MATCH PREVIEW – SALFORD RED DEVILS VS ST HELENS (BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE ROUND 21)

It’s our 150th anniversary celebration!

From live music, to club legend appearances, it’s perhaps fitting that we take on World Champions, St Helens on a day of such significance.

July was a tough month for the Red Devils, but with injured bodies back in the fold and the addition of Brad Singleton to our depleted pack, there is a huge opportunity to leapfrog back into the top six.

Despite a shaky start to 2023, Saints have really hit their groove in recent months and currently sit in 4th place – eight points off the top.

Here’s everything you need to know about our Round 21 clash:

SQUAD NEWS

After a tough result in Perpignan, it will certainly be a massive boost for everyone to see some key personnel back in the 21-man.

Skipper, Kallum Watkins has been missing for a while, but he’s back in training after a hamstring issue.

Star centre, Tim Lafai missed the trip to France after the birth of his daughter, but will return to the fold for this one.

Other notable returns are Marc Sneyd and Danny Addy, with the latter making a full recovery from his head knock to make the squad.

Brad Singleton is named for the first time since making the move from Wigan Warriors.

Adam Sidlow and Alex Gerrard joins Shane Wright on the sidelines for this one.

INU’S PREVIEW

Ahead of today’s game, Assistant Coach, Krisnan Inu was quizzed by the press on a range of different topics.

Reacting to our form across July – in particular our heavy defeat out in Perpignan – Inu admitted there is a few areas the team have been working on in training this week.

He said: “It was very challenging week for everyone – not only the staff, but especially the players. A change in personnel and lot going on off the field, so I thought they did the best they could.

“Obviously, the performance didn’t show and there’s a few things we need to fix up going into this week.”
