We’re back home for Round 23, as Huddersfield Giants travel to the Salford Community Stadium for our third meeting of 2024.
Just five Betfred Super League fixtures remain from a hectic campaign and every single point is crucial in our pursuit of playoff rugby.
Since our brilliant win at the John Smith’s Stadium in early May, the Reds have won six of their last 12 games and sit joint fourth.
One of them defeats was against the Giants in Round 18, so it’s all to play for in our third and final meeting of the season. Here’s everything you need to know:

SQUAD NEWS
One changes was forced by a collision midway through the first-half at Magic Weekend. Back-rower, Sam Stone was on the receiving end and failed his subsequent HIA, meaning he sits out this week due to concussion protocols.
Our Head Coach has also had to contend with two suspensions arising from that game; both Ollie Partington and Tim Lafai received one-match bans from the Match Review Panel.
That means there’s space in the 21 for Ben Hellewell, who has had a tough season through injury, but recently signed a one-year extension to keep him at the Club until the end of 2025.
Cade Cust and Nathan Connell are the other two additions this week.
LAST TIME OUT
Coming into the contest in fine form – despite a tough loss in Perpignan the week prior – the Reds were looking to push their way further towards the top of the Betfred Super League table.
Under the new temporary management of Luke Robinson, a fresh-looking Huddersfield Giants were always going to pose a tough, physical challenge to a Salford team who had worked hard to navigate a tricky period.
Jake Connor got the scoring underway with a penalty-goal, but the Red Devils soon hit back when Joe Mellor scooted from dummy-half to score his 100th career try.
A high shot on Cade Cust early into the second period could have led to Marc Sneyd extending our lead, but instead choosing to play on cost the Reds dearly.
Trying to work the play right, Sam Halsall spotted a chance to intercept and race 80 metres to score.
A missed conversion and another penalty-goal – this time gladly accepted by Sneyd – nudged Salford back in front, but it was all Giants from there on in.
Two penalty-goals and a Brad Singleton sin-bin widened the gap and Adam Milner made sure on the win with his try in the dying seconds.
