THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

MATCH PREVIEW – LEIGH LEOPARDS VS SALFORD RED DEVILS (ROUND 11)

Salford Red Devils enter the Leopards Den in Round 11, looking to secure a fourth consecutive Betfred Super League victory.

Despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise, Paul Rowley’s side produced a fine display in our last outing to beat Huddersfield Giants.

A late fightback threatened to damper Salford’s spirits, but it was too little too late for the hosts, with Nene Macdonald starring in a 16-18 win.

The team will need to continue that momentum against Leigh Leopards on Friday; a side we have already faced once before this season.

Ryan Brierley scored twice on his 300th career appearance, as the Reds fought hard for a 32-22 win at the Salford Community Stadium.

Here’s everything you need to know about our second meeting of 2024:

SQUAD NEWS

There’s a few bumps and bruises for our Head Coach to take care of from last Friday’s contest in Huddersfield.

Joe Mellor and Joe Shorrocks are the big omissions, with the pair forced to leave the field with their own respective injuries.

Shane Wright, Gil Dudson and Andrew Dixon are also not 100% fit for this one, so miss out on the 20-man squad.

However, there is a return for young hooker, Amir Bourouh, who has recovered from an ankle injury. King Vuniyayawa is also back after adhering to concussion protocols.

Check out the full squad below.

LAST TIME OUT

We have already taken on the Leopards in Rivals Round earlier this season, but you’ll have to go back to 2023’s edition for the last time we travelled to the LSV.

With Rowley’s side starting to find their groove, they returned to take on a side they’d already secured victory against in Round 1.

Josh Charnley opened the scoring for the hosts, but three quick fire tries from Ken Sio, Sam Stone and Brodie Croft motored the Red Devils into a 10-point lead.

A yellow card for Ryan Brierley threatened to derail the Salford momentum, but nice work from Marc Sneyd and a bust up the middle from Tyler Dupree sealed the two points.
