THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

MATCH PREVIEW – CATALANS DRAGONS VS SALFORD RED DEVILS (ROUND 17)

Allez Les Diables Rouges!

It’s a trip to the South of France up next for Paul Rowley’s side, as they go head-to-head with a direct playoff rival, Catalans Dragons.

In similar fashion to last week’s meeting with Hull FC, this Saturday will be the first time we’ve faced the Dragons in 2024.

Steve McNamara’s side got the better of the Red Devils on two out of three occasions last season, so the team will be hoping to improve that record this time around.

Here’s everything you need to know before this one:

HOW TO BUY TICKETS

Our initial allocation of 500 is now SOLD OUT!

SQUAD NEWS

There is only one change to last week’s squad, with Nene Macdonald coming back into the fold after his muscle issue.

Nathan Connell is also included, just a day after signing his first professional contract. Joe Mellor, a player making a massive impact at hooker, is still just one away from 100 career tries.

LAST TIME OUT

As mentioned previously, last year’s Super League runners-up came out winners when the two sides last met.

On the final day of our 2023 campaign, Salford still had a chance of playoff rugby, and Catalans were hoping for a Wigan Warriors slip to clinch the League Leaders Shield.

The visitors raced into a 0-8 lead, with a physical encounter leading to a sin-binning each – Sam Tomkins and Amir Bourouh the recipients.

Ben Hellewell continued his fine try-scoring form with a strong line, but Julian Bousquet soon extended the Dragons’ lead with a powerful effort of his own.

The game was quickly getting away from Salford and Tomkins made sure of the two points with a try of his own, just minutes from time.
