We are thrilled to reveal Mark Moran has been appointed our new Head of Youth.
A familiar face at the Salford Community Stadium, Mark has been involved with the Club since 2019 and transitioned into a role within the REDS Elite Development Squad in 2021.
Two years later, in November of last year, Mark was made Head of the REDS programme and has worked closely with young players looking to become Salford Red Devils stars of the future.
He will now oversee our Elite Academy Pathway, with a specific focus on routes into the programme from the age of 15.
With a vast background in coaching education, Mark will also be helping up-skill Community Club coaches in the local area.
In reaction to his appointment, Mark has said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to be appointed as the Head of Youth at Salford Red Devils.
“Establishing a comprehensive player pathway is essential, and I am especially excited to play a part in helping to develop the talented coaches and players from Salford’s community clubs, and beyond.”
Club Director, Paul Trainor has added: “We are delighted with Mark’s appointment as Head of Youth. He was the outstanding candidate from the recruitment process.
“We had interest in the role from clubs in the UK, NRL and from Rugby Union. This level of interest was great to see, but not surprising given the progress and profile of the club in recent years, together with the potential of our pathway programme.
“Mark has a first-rate background as a highly experienced coach, player and coach developer as well as a successful career in higher education.
“He has a real passion and pride for the city, the club and Rugby League in Salford. He has impressed through his work on our pathway programme over the past three years, leading the REDS programme and Wales partnership during that period.
“The Elite Academy licence is the final piece of the jigsaw in our Pathway programme, and we believe that Mark is the perfect fit to lead our Academy and wider Pathway programme.”
