MANN TAKING THE POSITIVES OUT OF SCHOLARSHIP OPENER DESPITE DEFEAT

Scholarship Head Coach, Jon Mann will take the positives from his side’s comprehensive defeat against Warrington Wolves this evening.

It was clear right from the opening set that the hosts were much further down the road in terms of their development, compared to the youthful Reds outfit.

The performance wasn’t without effort and desire, however, with Mann picking the positives from the Club’s first Scholarship outing since 2016.

“There was always going to be pre-game nerves for the lads. When you see just the physical difference, that’s enough evidence,” he told our YouTube channel.

“Warrington went hard there with year two lads and it showed. They’ve had 19 months’ worth of development compared to four months (of development).

“The physicality was a shock for them in that first 15/20 minutes, but we then saw them get into that grind. They were landing their defensive process, putting players on their back, squeezing, peeling, so they started getting in that grind and that’s what you want to see.

“That’s where you take them positives because the biggest challenge that was set to them was to stay in that arm wrestle for as long as they can.”
