Whether it’s with an opposition player or the South Stand drum, Loghan Lewis has certainly made an impact in just a short spell with the Club.
A mid-season addition from Canberra Raiders, the youngster was a relatively unknown quantity having never played a minute of first grade rugby.
Moving to the other side of the world was a big leap for such a young player, but it is an opportunity he certainly grasped with both hands.
He quickly won the supporter’s hearts with some aggressive and courageous performances in the middle, right from his first carry away at Warrington Wolves.
On a night when the Reds completed a Betfred Super League double over Sam Burgess’ side, Lewis made his debut and gave a promising glimpse of what’s to come.
That was just on the pitch; his passion for the game is infectious and the way he celebrated in front of the travelling Salford faithful made him feel at home almost instantly.
Watch that game back and the full-time scenes from our unique Behind the Sticks angle now.
Lewis settled into life at Salford seamlessly. A week after his full debut he was part of the side who completed another historic double – this time over St Helens.
A win against Hull FC in Round 16 made it three from three for the Aussie, who had his first encounter with the South Stand drum and realised he may need a few lessons to get up to a decent standard.
A nasty head collision away against Catalans Dragons forced him off the field and caused him to miss our next outing against Huddersfield Giants.
His impact in the middle was sorely missed and could have turned the tide in key moments of the two fixtures.
Before we met with the Dragons in Perpignan, we sat down with Lewis to discuss his rollercoaster start to life in red and white.
He was back in business during our crucial Round 19 victory over Castleford Tigers, before playing his part in another playoff-deciding against Leeds Rhinos.
Shortly after that run, he was voted by the supporters as July’s Player of the Month.
Going away to Saints in early August, Lewis was at the centre of an aggressive match-up – copping a big hit from James Bell that brought up more than just a bit of air in the lungs.
However, he never took a backward step and stood up to some seasoned internationals – a huge cause for optimism as he grows in experience.
A slight groin issue caused him to miss a select few matches towards the back-end of 2024, seemingly buffering his progress, but what a couple of months he has had.
With just 11 games under his belt, members of the Supporters’ Trust voted him the Hitman of the Year – such was his impact on the team since joining.
There was an option to trigger a 12-month extension in his contract which the club quickly activated, meaning there’s a lot more to come from the Hitman in 2025.
It would be wrong of us to talk about Loghan and not mention his Twitch account, HitmanLoges – click here to give it a follow and get more insight into his incredible personality.

ROWLEY ON LEWIS
“All the feedback I got on Loghan was that he was a whole-hearted sort of character who would love it playing at this sort of level for the first time.
“So he’s had to step up and you can the excitement in him after games when he gets hold of that drum!”
