THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

LAFAI ‘FELL IN LOVE INSTANTLY’ WITH SALFORD

In his final interview before departing the Club, Tim Lafai sat down to reflect on his stellar Salford Red Devils career.

The Samoan will shortly be returning home to be reunited with his final in Australia, four years after he made the switch to these shores.

Lafai will be remembered amongst the Salford faithful for moments of pure genius with ball in hand, providing a constant threat for Paul Rowley at centre.

On his exit, the 33-year-old said: “If I’m being honest, it’s not how I wanted things to end, but it is what it is and everything happens for a reason so it means I’m going back to my family, and I’m happy with that.”

“Yeah, for sure,” Lafai continued when asked about his close bond with the Club, “I came here four years ago, took that risk and fell in love with the place instantly and that’s why I stayed with this Club another few years after.”

Moving on to speak about some of his favourite memories, he said: “One of the best memories I’ve had with the rest and the Club was beating Saints at their home.

“I didn’t know that we hadn’t won their in over 40 years, so to be able to do that with the boys and hearing how much it meant to the fans definitely stuck with me as a great memory.”
