Last night Salford Red Devils hooker Kriss Brining conducted the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third round draw alongside St Helens’ Alex Walmsley live on the BBC Sport website
Brining drew his former team York away at Askam ARLFC in a tie which will be played on the weekend of the 24th/25th February.
Speaking on BBC Sport’s website to Dave Woods, Brining said: “Yeah, I came through the York City Knights system and played there from when I was about thirteen.
“I was similar to Alex [Walmsley] I went to uni and got a degree and then was lucky enough to get picked up.
“I don’t think they’ll be happy I’ve drawn them away but I think they’ll be happy enough with the tie and hopefully they can get through to the next round.”
York City Knights will be looking to push for promotion to the Betfred Championship this season and begin their campaign with a massive game as they host Bradford Bulls.
“I think Bradford have sold quite a few I’ve seen on Twitter and other social media and I think there really looking for a big crowd so good luck to them.
“They’ve signed really well in the off-season and you know James Ford’s put a real good squad together.”
Brining has missed the start of the season with a small knock but is confident he’ll continue to develop after a fantastic debut season in the Betfred Super League.
Brining said: “I was happy with last year and got a lot of learning to do still but yeah it’s really good and I’m enjoying it.”
