THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

JUNE PLAYER OF THE MONTH NOMINEES REVEALED

It’s time to vote for your June Player of the Month.

Three wins from three equals a perfect month of Betfred Super League action for Paul Rowley’s men, who have continued to prove doubters wrong with some incredible team performances.

Across the month, the Red’s backed-up a home victory against London Broncos with two outstanding displays against Warrington Wolves and St Helens.

First up at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, where Salford raced into a 0-19 half-time lead thanks to tries from Nene Macdonald, Deon Cross and Marc Sneyd.

Two quick-fire Wire tries threatened a comeback, but Marc Sneyd’s pinpoint chip to Deon Cross with 15 to play secured the victory.

Returning home the following Sunday, we completed another league double; this time against St Helens – the first for over 44 years.

It was a fantastic contest, with both sides wrestling the lead back and forth before a magic Salford try on the right edge decided the game.

The whole team contributed to a red-hot June, but only four could be nominated for this individual award, so here are your Player of the Month nominees.

Kallum Watkins is up first; a player who continues to lead the way as Club captain.

He receives another nomination after three solid showings; including a Player of the Match performance against St Helens last time out.

Yet again, Marc Sneyd has been a pivotal figure for the team across the month and is still flying high on the Steve Prescott Man of Steel charts.

He notched a staggering six try assists and one try in June, and was his usual, reliable self from the kicking tee.

Our next nominee is May’s winner, Deon Cross, who started his Red Devils career at centre, but is really starting to flourish on the wing.

Scoring five tries in three games, the 27-year-old has formed a deadly partnership with Sneyd, with three of his efforts almost identical in their execution.

The final nominee is a regular for this award – Nene Macdonald.

Another stellar month for the PNG international, who you can always count on to make the most metres, but also produce individual moments that break the game wide open.
