THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

JAYDEN NIKORIMA AND TIM LAFAI IN SQUAD FOR CASTLEFORD CLASH

Head Coach, Paul Rowley is able to recall a few important players to his 21-man squad.

After suffering back-to-back defeats, the Red Devils are looking for a positive response against Castleford Tigers this Saturday, as the race for playoff rugby intensifies.

The Tigers were the victors in our last meeting, but a Marc Sneyd-inspired performance saw us beat Cas at the Salford Community Stadium back in Round 2.

You may notice something slightly different about the way we’ve displayed this week’s squad list. As part of our Inclusivity round, we are shining a light on communication conditions – including dyslexia.

Our squad list this week uses a OpenDyslexic font; a typeface designed to help with some common symptoms of dyslexia. The font was created based on research and articles specifically focused on reading accuracy and comprehension.

Letters have heavy weighted bottoms to indicate direction. You are able to quickly figure out which part of the letter is down which aids in recognising the correct letter, and sometimes helps to keep your brain from rotating them around.

Consistently weighted bottoms can also help reinforce the line of text. The unique shapes of each letter can help prevent confusion through flipping and swapping.

Back on the field, Tim Lafai’s return from injury is a huge boost to the squad. The Samoan tweaked his hamstring in the warm-up before our game against St Helens in late-June and has faced a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Sam Stone was also misses from the team last Friday, but is named in the 21 again after a slight back issue.

New signing, Jayden Nikorima is a player supporters are excited to see and has enjoyed his first full week of training with the group.

Loghan Lewis is also back in contention after missing a week due to concussion protocols.
