Assistant Coach, Krisnan Inu believes that missing players will allow for different game plans, that could make Salford Red Devils a dangerous team, in the eyes of Wakefield Trinity.
Inu was interviewed yesterday in his pre-match press conference for the Red Devils’ trip to face Trinity at the Be Well Support Stadium, at 7:45pm.
Tomorrow’s squad is missing the likes of Andy Ackers, Brodie Croft, Sam Stone and Ryan Brierley, who are all out injured, with Ackers and Brierley out with HIA injuries after failing their assessments against Hull FC and Wigan Warriors respectively.
Inu pointed out that Brierley has been a standout player this season and – despite being out injured – Inu is confident that other players will be prepared to fill in at full-back for him come this evening.
He stated: “We got a lot of boys who can play in a lot of different positions.”
Inu believes that the lack of bodies could actually make Salford a more dangerous outfit in Wakefield’s eyes, as the players can adapt to play in many different positions, making for a wide range of different game plans that the home team would struggle to defend against.
The former winger also pointed out the positives in Brierley getting a rest at this time of the year and is excited to see him return.
The Assistant Coach continued: “He has been our best player this year and he’s doing okay medically.
“He’s ticked all the boxes that could’ve let him play, but the rules are the rules.”
Inu played his last season with Leigh Centurions – now Leopards – before retiring and returning to the Red Devils as an assistant coach to Paul Rowley.
Inu was also asked about Salford’s poor away form at Wakefield, but was also reminded that the Red Devils defeated a flying high Leopards team away twice this season.
He replied that he isn’t concentrated on statistics, that the team take it a match at a time, and that every game and every two points will be important going forward.
