Salford Red Devils head coach Ian Watson credited his side’s defensive efforts for their victory against Castleford Tigers.
The Red Devils climbed into the Betfred Super League play-off positions with their second successive win at the The Salford Stadium.
Watson said: “This is what we worked all preseason for. To give ourselves a sniff of an opportunity.
“We’ve got that and today it was important that we backed our result up from last week by getting a win, so it puts us in a play-off position.”
He added: “I know there’s a long way to go, but we’re proving people wrong at the moment.”
Niall Evalds, Lee Mossop, Jackson Hastings and Derrel Olpherts were the try-scorers for Salford, but it was their impenetrable defence in the second-half which saw them truly impress.
Watson said: “There were a lot of players who were outstanding today across the board.
“As a team, we had a defensive attitude today and they can be proud of the defensive performance they put in there.”
Salford will look to make it three wins in a row when they travel to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Warriors next Friday. Tickets information available HERE.
