THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

IAN WATSON – “HIS PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN TOP DRAW”

Salford Red Devils head coach Ian Watson is looking forward to more ‘top draw’ performances from Krisnan Inu in 2020.
The New Zealand international signed a contract extension with the club last week, ensuring he will play for the Red Devils next season.
Watson said: “Kris has been fantastic since he’s been here.
“He’s really knuckled down and bought into what we want him to buy into.
“His performances have been top draw – especially over the past few weeks, when they’ve really needed to be.
“He’s obviously a great goal-kicker, which is a massive plus. It’s a lot better going up in sixes than in fours.
“He’s a player who’s fitting into the group really well.
“All the boys like him. He’s a character who’s come in and just mingled in with everyone.
“He’s enhanced our environment with the kind of person that he is.”
Inu is set to compete with Tui Lolohea, Ken Sio and Ed Chamberlain for place kicking duties in 2020.

The former NRL star’s contract extension follows the signing announcement of Dan Sarginson on Monday.
Salford’s next new signing will be announced to celebrate the sale of 200 Season Tickets for the 2020 season.
“Krisnan offers us a high level of experience and knowhow in big games,” said Watson.
“It’s important that we have players with international quality and experience to help the young lads that we bring in, so they can pass that on.
“Kris Welham does great with that, as well as Inu. Dan Sarginson, even though he’s still young, he’ll still bring that as well.
“He’s played at international level and in the NRL, so he’ll bring that level of competitiveness and winning mentality to Salford, which is one of the big pluses for bringing him in.
“We want guys who’ve got that winning mentality, like what Lee Mossop, Tyrone McCarthy, Mark Flanagan and some of the other guys around the club have got.”
Inu will next be in action on Thursday, when Salford Red Devils host Warrington Wolves at 7:45pm, with soap stars taking part in a football match from 6pm.
