England international, Chris Hill is excited to share his vast rugby league experience with our dressing room in 2025.
Earlier this afternoon, the 36-year-old was revealed as Paul Rowley’s third off-season signing and will spend the next 12 months of his career at the Salford Community Stadium.
With over 550 appearances for club and country, Hill has seen it all and will be a valuable addition to the team as we hunt for success.
Alongside his two Challenge Cup winners medals, the prop has competed in multiple Betfred Super League Grand Finals, so knows what it takes to compete and win on the biggest stages.
We caught up with him before England take on Samoa in a two-match test series to discuss his move to the Club and what he expects from his time with the Red Devils.
“I just want to give a little bit back; I know they’ve got some good young kids and a lot of talent coming through, so I just want to give a lot back,” he told our YouTube channel.
“Being a bit more of an older head now and I think they have that at Salford, they’ve got quite a few older heads.
“I like the way they play, very expansive. I knew Rowls would be like that from the way he played as well, and the way we played at Leigh under him.
“I’m really looking forward to hooking up with them and it’s perfect for this time in my career to give a little bit back.”
Hill played with and under our Head Coach at Leigh Centurions (now Leopards), so knows his plans and processes inside out.
Since taking charge of the Reds, Hill has faced Rowley’s Salford on multiple occasions and gave us an insight into what it’s like to come up against.
He said: “Hard work. It’s hard to plan. He’s a good tactician and you’ve got players like Sneydy who will pick you apart.
“We’ve played them many a time and you tee up for one play and then another one is coming, so I’m looking forward to that and enjoying the rugby that we play – just getting to know the lads and getting my feet in there.”
