The Reds came into the contest after a week off to rest and recharge and knew they were facing a hungry, playoff-chasing Saints side.
Looking for a first win since March, another much-changed Salford team performed, once again, with courage, but ultimately the experience of the visitors took over.
Kyle Feldt scored four on his return to fitness, with Saints’ other tries coming from Harry Robertson, Curtis Sironen, Alex Walmsley and Owen Dagnall.
There was a reason to celebrate for the Salford faithful when Academy prospect dotted down in the corner for his first senior try, but it was ultimately in vain, as the visitors went home with the two competition points.
