The new Head Coach of Salford Red Devils Women, Mike Grady is ‘excited’ to get going in his new role and has set ambitions of achieving promotion back to the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Speaking for the first time since his appointment, Grady could not hide his delight at joining the club at such a promising time for the women’s game.
“Proud. Looking forward to it. Excited and just can’t wait to get going,” he began.
“The women’s game is massive at the moment, it’s being pushed really well, the coverage of it and I just can’t wait to get stuck into it!”
Grady is already vastly experienced at both club and international level. Most recently, he joined John Kear for a stint at Widnes Vikings, alongside becoming Head Coach of the Spanish National Team.
Now fully settled in his new role, Grady will be looking forward to next week’s trials and recruiting fresh talent.

“First of all, we’re going to have a trial and see who’s out there and who can come in,” Grady continued.
“And just like any team, we’re going to get stuck into pre-season, work hard and we’ll set our goals to rip into the season in the best way we can.”
Our debut season in the Women’s Super League was a relatively successful one. A playoff spot was achieved, but a huge restructure of the competition means we will be competing at a lower level in 2024.
Grady, however, is determined that we bounce straight back: “We’re in it to win it.
“We’re going to push ourselves, we’re going to go for it and the aim is to go up, so we’ll be working hard in pre-season towards achieving that throughout the year.”
Another objective of his new role is to put a pathway in place for young girls to become the next stars of Salford Red Devils.
Work towards this has already started with the Foundation’s Girls Development Academy, but Grady is really keen to get involved and make his mark.
“We’re just looking to put pathways in place. I know a lot of the work goes on during the week at colleges in and around the area.
“So it’s just putting a pathway into place and showing there is something to reach for, to aim for and ultimately the first-team.”
