Finlay Walker has been selected in the Academy Origin Squad for their two-match series.
The hooker is the first Red Devils’ inclusion since the Club was awarded its license in May 2024 and marks a significant landmark in our ambitions of producing young talent.
This year’s Origin series kicks off at the Jungle, Castleford on Saturday, May 10th, with a second game pencilled in for Saturday, August 2nd at Hull KR’s Sewell Group Craven Park.
Walker will represent the Lancashire squad alongside eight representatives from St Helens and Warrington Wolves, three from Wigan Warriors and one from Bradford Bulls.
Since the start of the Academy season, Walker has performed to a standard that saw him make a try-scoring appearance for the Reserves in our game against Huddersfield Giants a fortnight ago.
On Fin’s inclusion, Academy Head Coach, Danny Barton has said: “I’m delighted for Fin to be selected into the Origin squad. This is a true reflection of what sacrifice and hard work can achieve against all the odds.
“He has not missed a session this year travelling from South Wales and that speaks volumes about his family, and his commitment for Fin to succeed in his career.
“He is a testament and an example to anyone looking on who has had setbacks, and how to have the attitude to keep going, and developing.”
Head of Youth, Mark Moran added: “Congratulations to Fin on his selection in the Academy Origin squad – a fantastic achievement and a real testament to his work ethic and commitment.
“Credit also to our Pathway Academy and support staff, whose continued efforts help create the environment for players like Fin to thrive.”
Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate Fin on a well-deserved inclusion.
