THE ORIGINAL RED DEVILS

FINAL ELITE ACADEMY TRIALS A HUGE SUCCESS

On Saturday morning, Cadishead Rhinos ARLFC hosted our second and final Elite Academy Trial ahead of the 2025 campaign.

The Club secured its license in late May after a thorough application process, which signified a huge step in our efforts to retain and develop the best local talent.

Since then, we’ve made huge strides towards finding a competitive team and recently announced local lad, Joe Griffiths as our first signing.

After our first trial just over a fortnight ago, Saturday’s follow-up consisted of four 20-minute halves, where players interchanged regularly to allow our coaches to conduct a thorough investigation of the talent.

A total of 60 players in trial one were cut down to 40 over the weekend and now the talent identification team will have the tough task of narrowing it down to our final Academy squad.

As well as players from local Community Clubs, young talent from areas like Cumbria and Wales all made the trip to Cadishead in the hope of kick-starting their promising careers.

On how the trial process has gone, Head of Youth, Mark Moran said: “It’s gone really well – it’s a culmination of four years of hard work.

“We’ve done the REDS Development Programme for the last four years building into the pathway bid, and this is the second trial, so we did a trial three weeks ago that went really well and we filtered that number down for today’s second trial.”
