FIN WALKER BUZZING WITH ‘UNEXPECTED’ ORIGINS CALL-UP

Young talent, Finlay Walker is looking forward to his upcoming Academy Origins squad after an ‘unexpected’ call from Head Coach, Shane Eccles.

He will be linking up with the Lancashire squad soon for their first game at the Jungle, Castleford on Saturday, May 10th, with a second game pencilled in for Saturday, August 2nd at Hull KR’s Sewell Group Craven Park.

Already scoring two tries in 2025 – one for the Academy and one for the Reserves – Walker has shown glimpses of his sparkling talent from nine.

Quick, deceptive and intelligent, all the signs say the youngster is set for a bright future – and what better for his development than training with some of the best talent in the country.

Speaking late last week on his call-up, Walker said: “It was quite unexpected. I didn’t know what to think. Obviously I was buzzing with it and I’m really looking forward to it.”

“I’ve had a great time so far with the boys. We’re really close as a group and grown quite quickly together, and we all work hard for one another.”

Upon his selection, Head Coach of our Academy set-up, Danny Barton paid tribute to Fin’s commitment to training and playing at the Red Devils.

On what sacrifices he’s had to make, Walker said: “It’s alright. Three hours up and back in the car, three times a week, which can get long, but it’s just about getting through it and putting the work in when I’m up here.

“I think it’s about taking it step-by-step, not getting ahead of myself and getting there eventually.”
