Latest Fan Forum Roundup
Monday saw the most recent Fans Forum, as new C.E.O Ian Blease and Head Coach Ian Watson were joined by Assistant Coach Martin Gleeson, and Willie Poching, who joined the club as Assistant Coach this week as well as new signings; Lee Mossop, Lama Tasi, Kris Brining and Daniel Murray, and fans favourite Junior Sa’u.
Ian Blease addressed the room before opening the floor to questions…
Ian Blease:
“It’s been hard work, but I’m loving it, as you know I spent over 12 years playing for this club, I’ve been a box holder here for the past few seasons, so first and foremost I am Salford, and my vision is to see us back up there, competing and delivering.
We have undertook the rebirth of the Junior Devils club, this is well underway and memberships are being processed, these will be confirmed and sent out in due course.
We are committed to delivering only the best on and off the field, we have been putting plans into place to reconnect with the community, whether that be through schools, businesses, leisure centres and gateways. The plan is to target those demographics so that we can reconnect with not only fans we already have put potential supporters.
We have been working hard to bring in additional corporate sponsorship. I’m meeting with Salix Homes, City West and other housing associations, it’s been none stop, the marketing of the club is in a period of transition, there is a lot of hard-work going on behind the scenes,
The work we are doing will be rewarded, the target is more bums on seats, and over the coming months we will have an increased profile in the community and schools
Ultimately we want that family feeling back, to enhance the fans enjoyment and deliver a unique match-day experience this will be helped by bringing the people of the city back to the sport of Rugby League. We are well aware of the issues and we are in discussions about improving transport to the games and we have already started to improve and better ourselves in respect of communications with our existing supporters.”
Blease was then followed by Ian Watson, who addressed the fans;
Ian Watson:
“I’m really happy, everyone returned from their break, fit and in good shape. We have brought in young, skillful and promising players who compliment the squad we have. The boys have learnt from difficult situations last season, the million pound game is something we don’t want to experience again. In hindsight if it weren’t for the points deduction we would have been up there competing in the top half of the table but we move on from that. We strive to win every game, we want to do consistently well, we may have a smaller squad but it’s a squad with quality. “
The next fans event is the open day at the The Salford Stadium on December 11th.
