Star centre, Esan Marsters is a new addition to the Salford Red Devils family for the 2025 season and has found the move ‘refreshing’.
Marsters made 86 appearances in the NRL with West Tigers, North Queensland Cowboys and Gold Coast Titans. Over a combined six seasons, he scored 21 tries and tallied up a whopping 276 points.
His skill set was then showcased in the Betfred Super League, where he scored 10 tries in 43 appearances for Huddersfield Giants over the last two years.
It was announced in May of last year that Marsters was joining the Red Devils ahead of our 2025 campaign. His dynamic talent has already been put on display this season, scoring a try on debut against Midlands Hurricanes in the Betfred Challenge Cup.
Ahead of the Reds’ Super League match against Hull KR, Marsters spoke to our YouTube channel about the transition from Huddersfield Giants to Salford Red Devils.
“It’s been really good, it’s been refreshing,” he began.
“Like I said to the boys, it’s nerve-wracking coming into a new team and figuring out where you want to place yourself, but the boys have been really welcoming to me, so it’s been awesome being here and I’m looking forward to the year.”
Having played with the Giants for two years, Marsters’ move to the Red Devils wasn’t a simple, snap decision – many factors went into his decision to make Salford his new home.
He said: “I think for myself it was that they played exciting footie but also could play, you know, that team that would grind a team out.
“For myself playing against them last year, they grinded us out for most of the games. They like to throw the ball around – that was one of the main reasons I wanted to come – and just add to that.
“Also, I think, if you look around the leaders that we have on the team, I want to pick their brains and just hopefully I can learn as much as I can off all the older players.”
