BRODIE CROFT NOMINATED FOR STEVE PRESCOTT MBE MAN OF STEEL 2022

We’re delighted to announce Brodie Croft has been nominated for the 2022 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award.

The 25-year-old joined the club from Brisbane Broncos last summer and has completely taken the Betfred Super League by storm. Forming a rock solid, but exciting spine with Ryan Brierley, Marc Sneyd and Andy Ackers, the half-back has been a driving force behind Salford’s run to the play-offs.

His 32 try contributions this season places him 6th in the Super League list, with some elite individual displays along the way.

Showing incredible amounts of consistency throughout, it is difficult to pick out one standout moment from his season, but Croft’s display against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan was dubbed a masterclass by fans and pundits alike.

Speaking after receiving his nomination, Croft has said: “I’m honoured and humbled to be in the running for the Man of Steel. I’ve been fortunate enough to play alongside a special bunch of boys who make it a pleasure to come into the club everyday.

“I can’t thank the coaching staff enough for their belief in me, and the structures they’ve put in place to allow this team to play the way we have.

“And also to my family for always supporting me every step of my journey. Now for some unfinished business we have this season!”

Head Coach, Paul Rowley also had this to say: “On behalf of everybody at the club, I am very proud of Brodie’s nomination. This award is so prestigious and for him to be stood on the podium is a credit to him – an incredible achievement.

“The most sincere compliment I could give him would be to say that he’s a fantastic role model to aspiring sportsmen, but he’s also a great person, who is an absolute privilege and honour to be involved with.”

Director of rugby and operations, Ian Blease added: “To have Brodie nominated for Super League Man of Steel award is testament to all the hard work, dedication and effort he has applied within the team and club as a whole this year.

“When I first spoke with Brodie and his agent, we talked about him getting back to enjoying his best rugby, finding the running game I knew he had within him and becoming a leader at the club – but most importantly, getting a smile back on his face.

“Brodie has certainly found all these features again, with the help of all the club’s players, who I know all enjoy what he brings to the team – and long may this continue. I think the whole of rugby league has admired the way Brodie and the team have performed this year.

“Best wishes to him and his family on awards night. In my view, he thoroughly deserves to be Super League’s Man of Steel!”

Croft’s nomination follows Head Coach, Paul Rowley’s shortlist for Super League Coach of the Year yesterday, with both awards set to be announced on the evening of September 19th.

Alongside Brodie, Wigan Warriors’ Jai Field and St.Helens’ Jack Welsby are also nominated for the award.

The Aussie will be hoping he and his team can replicate their form in the play-offs when Salford face Huddersfield Giants on Saturday. You can secure your tickets for the crunch clash HERE.
